Pluming problems can be a major hassle to deal with. They can also become quite costly if they are left untouched for too long. On top of all of this, they can cause serious damage that takes a lot of work to fix if you just let them go. We here at St. Paul Plumbing want to educate our customers on a few common plumbing problems that occur in the home. Rather than freaking out and calling us right away, you should try fixing it yourself. Of course, only do this if you feel that you are capable of solving the problem. If you do not feel this way or it is not a problem on this list, you should contact us and we will send out one of our many professional plumbers to your home right away.
One problem that happens in every home at one point or another is a running toilet. No, this does not mean that your toilet is trying to escape your home. A running toilet is where you can hear the water running long after it should be when you flush it. You could also hear a trickle type noise coming from the water of the toilet. If you notice either of these then you probably have a running toilet. Luckily, this is fairly easy to fix. If you think this is you problem, simply remove the lid of the toilet and flush it. You may notice that the flap or the chain is becoming stuck and not doing their jobs correctly. If this is the case you may just need to replace either one of them. Also, make sure that nothing is out of place or catching it making it impossible to close properly.
Another problem that occurs every day in a home near you is a slow drain. This means that there is something inside of the pipes that is clogging your drain which is making water drain slowly. This is very simple to fix and you have many choices on how you want to go about it. First, you could use a chemical to pour down the drain that will hopefully dissolve the clog. You can also try plunging the clog through the pipes. Another way to get the clog out is by using a drain snake. Many people do not own a drain snake unless they have clogs on a regular basis. Most likely, you drain will become clogged again at some point. If these easy fixes do not work then there is something much larger than this wrong with your plumbing and you should contact a professional.
Of course, there are many other common problems that occur in your home plumbing. These are just a few of the most common ones that are easily fixable without any professional help. If you have a plumbing problem that you need help with, please feel free to call us here at St. Paul Plumbing. We are always happy to help you with all of your plumbing services.
